Treatment focuses on restoring proper muscle function, joint mechanics, and movement patterns to reduce pain and improve upper-extremity function.

Strains and Sprains

Musculoskeletal Sprains and Strains are injuries to the soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system. A sprain is the stretching or tearing of ligaments, which connect bones at a joint, while a strain is the stretching or tearing of muscles or tendons. These injuries often result from overuse, sudden movements, or trauma.

Symptoms of Sprains and Strains:

  • Pain at the affected joint or muscle

  • Swelling or inflammation

  • Bruising or discoloration

  • Muscle spasms or cramping

  • Weakness in the affected area

  • Limited range of motion

  • Tenderness to touch

  • Instability in the joint (for sprains)

  • Stiffness or difficulty moving the injured area

How Medical Massage Helps Relieve Strains and Sprains

Medical massage helps relieve strains and sprains by:

  • Reducing muscle tension, spasms, and guarding around the injured area

  • Improving circulation to promote tissue healing and reduce inflammation

  • Decreasing soft tissue adhesions and scar tissue formation

  • Restoring mobility and range of motion in the affected joint or muscle

  • Supporting proper movement patterns to prevent re-injury

  • Reducing pain and discomfort during daily activities and rehabilitation

Treatment focuses on restoring proper muscle and joint function, optimizing healing, and supporting long-term recovery.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a condition caused by compression of the median nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel in the wrist. It often develops due to repetitive hand movements, wrist posture, or inflammation, leading to pain, numbness, and weakness in the hand and fingers.

Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:

  • Tingling or numbness in the thumb, index, middle, and part of the ring finger

  • Hand or wrist pain, often worse at night

  • Weakness in the hand or difficulty gripping objects

  • Swelling or a “tight” feeling in the wrist

  • Burning or aching sensations in the hand or forearm

  • Reduced coordination in the fingers

  • Difficulty performing fine motor tasks (typing)

  • Occasional shock-like sensations from the wrist to the fingers

How Medical Massage Helps Relieve Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Medical massage helps relieve Carpal Tunnel Syndrome by:

  • Reducing muscle tension and spasms in the forearm, wrist, and hand

  • Improving circulation to restricted soft tissues

  • Decreasing inflammation and soft tissue adhesions around the carpal tunnel

  • Relieving pressure on the median nerve caused by tight muscles or fascia

  • Restoring mobility and functional range of motion in the wrist and hand

  • Supporting proper movement patterns to reduce recurrence

Treatment focuses on restoring proper muscle and tendon function, relieving nerve compression, and improving hand and wrist function.

Piriformis Syndrome

Piriformis Syndrome is a condition in which the piriformis muscle in the buttock irritates or compresses the sciatic nerve, often due to muscle tightness, spasm, or injury. This can cause pain, numbness, or tingling that radiates from the buttock down the leg.

Symptoms of Piriformis Syndrome:

  • Pain or aching in the buttock

  • Pain that radiates down the back of the thigh or leg (sciatica)

  • Tingling or numbness in the leg or foot

  • Pain that worsens with sitting, climbing stairs, or running

  • Muscle tightness or spasm in the buttock

  • Difficulty sitting comfortably for long periods

  • Reduced range of motion in the hip

  • Weakness in the affected leg in severe cases

How Medical Massage Helps Relieve Piriformis Syndrome

Medical massage helps relieve Piriformis Syndrome by:

  • Reducing muscle tension, spasms, and guarding in the piriformis and surrounding hip muscles

  • Improving circulation to restricted or inflamed soft tissues

  • Decreasing inflammation and myofascial adhesions

  • Relieving pressure on the sciatic nerve caused by tight muscles or fascial restrictions

  • Restoring hip and pelvic mobility and range of motion

  • Improving posture and muscular balance to prevent recurrence

Treatment focuses on restoring proper muscle function, reducing nerve irritation, and improving overall lower-extremity function.

Scalene Syndrome

Scalene Syndrome is a condition in which the scalene muscles in the neck compress nerves or blood vessels, often contributing to thoracic outlet syndrome. This can result from muscle tightness, poor posture, or repetitive neck and shoulder movements, causing pain, numbness, or weakness in the neck, shoulder, and arm.

Symptoms of Scalene Syndrome:

  • Pain or tension in the neck and shoulder

  • Numbness or tingling in the arm, hand, or fingers
